What are systemic family constellations?
It is an experiential method developed in Germany by Bert Hellinger in 1970's. Now it is practiced world wide with regular international conferences and large professional network. It is a beautiful way to look at the real roots of some of the issues we face in life and see them at a different angle. Through looking at old family dynamics, exclusions and intergenerational trauma there is a chance to create some resolution that might have ripple affect for current situation, hopefully creating shifts that would initiate healing and change. Constellations could assist you to see what is blocking you from making a commitment, where does the fear come from and how to deal with it, what are the roots of resistance in the family, what do you not see and much more. |
What is the process?
Constellations are usually done in a group workshop where participants are asked to represent family members of the issue-holder. You could choose to attend a regular scheduled workshop or to have a group specially arranged for you. This is a very powerful way to see what is actually going on and hear representatives' reports of changes after each step. Alternatively constellation can be done in a one-to-one setting, with one person or a couple, where various objects or stones are used as representatives. A constellation for a couple will work with your relationship with each other in the context of wider family systems; if you choose to work individually a constellation could help to look at entanglements and blocks that belong to you and your family in the context of a couple relationship. |
